We have a 5KW inverter hooked to a bank of 5 series 27 batteries. We have battery cables across the bank, and connecting the inverter. 8 guage, or so. When we connect the bulk rinse pump to the inverter, it does not want to run. Do we need to ground the inverter to the truck? Any other suggestions on what to try or test?

I have the same problem with our skid Jeff. I'm interested to see what the solution is. We've tried a couple different inverters. Our inverter will still run small stuff like an electric drill, air compressor, etc. Just can't get the bulk rinse pump up and running.

Thank you for the help on the phone Mario. Need some additional equipment to make this work. When I have it rigged, I will post an update with photos.

Now that I won't be hijacking the thread, which inverters are you using and are you happy with them? The ones listed on the forums a little while back are now made in China and seem to be worthless, so I thought I'd ask.
Thanks!

I forget what brand our 1st inverter was, it was only installed for about an hour during AC's Wilderness Excursion here last year when we realized it wasn't going to work. Right now we have a brand called "Accurate Tools." We have the 5000W/10000W peak inverter (model: AT5000). It didn't come with much paperwork but I believe that it was made in China based on a couple quick searches on the internet.

The surge voltage is the big issue. You have to have an invertor that will handle the surge of the pressure switch kicking on and off. Also how long your wires to the batteries as well as how long your extension cord is to the invertor from the pump matters too.
1. No longer than a 36" lead from the invertor to the batteries.
2. No longer than a 10' extension cord from the pump to the invertor.
3. No less than a 10 gage wire in the extension cord.

I use job site power or a generator on big jobs.
I hope this site info will help those running their pumps with a inverter.
